I bought this for a January birthday present and found out yesterday that it has never worked, never even turned on once. It's a piece of junk.
It was given with a desire for him to be independent in waking up. If he can stand the noise and rolling for nine minutes, it will stop. Grandson was stunned to receive this R2D2 off-the-table rolling alarm clock. He acknowledges that it works, and he admires and hates it at the same time.
So, if this clock it still not waking you up, get a dog to go with it. He gets up on the first ring (it never even has to jump off the night stand). We did buy an odd color and paid a lot less than some of the other reviewers paid. My husband has NEVER gotten up in the morning without snoozing 5+ times. You can get a turquoise or white one for half the price of the chrome one. I will say that our dogs sleep in our room in kennels and when the alarm starts to do it's thing, the dogs are barking for all their worth.
If you're looking for functionality, don't worry about the color. I have been married for 33 years. I got him this clock for Christmas. So far we haven't had the breakage problems discussed in other reviews, but I'm a little concerned.
When it goes off, it skedaddles away and forces my daughter out of bed. Clocky works. Now if I can only train her to turn it on before going to sleep.
Bought this for my bro-in-law for Christmas who has a very hard time with getting out of bed - he thought it was perfect.
